An EOR platform is the product side of an Employer of Record service. The EOR does the legal employing; the platform is where client and employees interact with it. It overlaps with the wider global employment platform category, which adds payroll for owned entities and contractor management.
What it includes
Locally compliant contract templates, employee onboarding, payroll with a single monthly invoice, benefits and leave management, an employee self-service portal, and integrations with the client's HRIS and finance tools.
What the platform will not show
The interface looks the same whether the EOR employs staff through its own entity or a local partner. It rarely reveals which. It cannot fix slow support, an outdated contract template, or thin benefits. Test the software, but ask harder questions about entities and escalation than about the demo.
Why it matters when hiring internationally
The platform is where employees experience their employer every month. Late payslips and clumsy portals reflect on you, not the provider. It also holds your employment data, so check data residency, export options and exit terms before signing, not when you want to move a team onto your own local entity.
